5G brings three key features to IoT: enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and Massive IoT support. Thanks to this, the technology enables the implementation of applications that were previously impossible or required non-cellular solutions – such as autonomous vehicles, remote medical procedures, advanced industrial robotics, or broadcast-quality video transmissions.
Quectel 5G Module Portfolio
Quectel offers a wide portfolio of 5G modules, covering both the Sub-6 GHz band (RG500Q and RM500Q families) and mmWave + Sub-6 GHz solutions (RG510Q and RM510Q). These modules are designed for industrial, multimedia, and critical applications where performance, stability, and security are paramount.
A distinguishing feature of Quectel solutions is the integration of advanced computing resources - including application processors, DSP, and high-speed memory - which allows for edge computing directly within the module. As a result, device manufacturers can simplify the design of final products and shorten their time-to-market.
The offer of full-featured 5G modules is complemented by 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) solutions, designed for IoT applications that do not require maximum transmission speeds or mmWave band support. RedCap modules offer an optimal compromise between performance, energy efficiency, and cost, while providing the key benefits of 5G, such as low latency, high reliability, and long-term standard support. Quectel's 5G RedCap solutions are particularly well-suited for applications such as industrial devices, video monitoring with moderate throughput requirements, wearables, smart meters, CPE routers, and smart city systems. Thanks to simplified architecture and lower power demand, RedCap modules enable manufacturers to create scalable and future-proof IoT devices, representing a natural migration step from LTE to 5G networks.
