ESP32-H21

( number of products: 2 )

ESP32-H21 is a low-power SoC designed for battery-powered IoT devices based on Thread, Zigbee, Matter, and Bluetooth Low Energy protocols. As the next evolution of the ESP32-H2 platform, the ESP32-H21 includes an integrated DC-DC converter, which further reduces active power consumption, helping extend battery life in always-connected sensing and control applications. The ESP32-H21 is also well suited for smart home sensors, building automation, wearables, and other power-sensitive endpoints.

ESP32-H21 Main Features

Low-power wireless connectivity

ESP32-H21 features

The ESP32-H21 combines IEEE 802.15.4 and Bluetooth Low Energy standards in a single SoC, enabling the creation of mesh networks based on Thread and Zigbee protocols, as well as the use of Bluetooth and Bluetooth mesh technologies in scalable multi-node deployments, while also supporting low-power point-to-point communication. This makes it an ideal platform for Matter-over-Thread devices, Zigbee sensors, and BLE peripherals. The addition of an integrated DC-DC converter improves energy efficiency during receive mode (RX), which is especially important for sensor nodes that listen for network traffic or wake-up events for long periods.

Extended range and connection reliability

ESP32-H21 features

The ESP32-H21 supports transmit power of up to 20 dBm, allowing for extended wireless network range and providing greater link margin in dense or interference-prone environments. This feature helps ensure reliable communication in distributed sensor networks and smart home installations without compromising energy efficiency.

System architecture and peripherals

ESP32-H21 features

Based on a 32-bit RISC-V microcontroller, the ESP32-H21 provides efficient protocol handling and flexible system integration. Its rich set of peripherals enables developers to connect sensors, actuators, and user interface components while maintaining a compact system design.

Software and ecosystem support

ESP32-H21 features

The ESP32-H21 is supported by Espressif’s ESP-IDF development framework, providing access to a proven SDK, development tools, and extensive documentation. Software support includes the ESP-Matter SDK, enabling smooth development of Matter-over-Thread applications in the ESP-IDF environment. Developers can reuse existing ESP-IDF knowledge and components to speed up development and reduce time to market. For Bluetooth LE, the SDK provides support for peripheral roles, advertising, and ESP-BLE-MESH, enabling developers to implement BLE-based networking solutions using the same unified software platform.
